City approves temple construction

Shree Pashupatinath Foundation, USA today obtained a Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Norwalk to carry out its religious and cultural activities in its newly constructed temple located at 10843 Kenney Street, Norwalk, CA 90650. The construction of Shree Pashupatinath & Buddha Mandir has been approved by the City, and we can now open the doors of the temple to the public. This is the greatest achievement of the diaspora Nepalese community residing in Southern California; now the dream of the Southern California-based Nepalis to have a temple of their own has become a reality. We will organize a very special PRANPRATISTHA (life-giving) ceremony within two months and open the temple to the public and conduct puja every day; the date and nature of the ceremony will be announced soon.

With the certificate of occupancy in our hands, we have started finalizing the list of murti sponsors to carve on the temple wall permanently. We are grateful to those who have already donated for murti purchase and urge all valued community members to not miss this golden opportunity to sponsor a deity; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This huge project would not have been possible without the united efforts of our community members who have donated from a penny to over $125,000, who have devoted their valuable time in accomplishing the mission of the Foundation, and who have utilized their expertise in every step of its construction. We are proud that our temple replicates the Nepalese religious characteristics, and we hope this temple will be instrumental in preserving and promoting our age-old language, religion, culture, identity, and tradition in the United States. The Foundation is committed to cooperating and collaborating with the local Nepalese community organizations in providing the best service to our community.

We hope to welcome our valued community members to our temple very soon, and we believe that the Nepalese of all religious, cultural, and political faiths will be able to unite at the center. We express our sincerest gratitude to our valued donors, community members, representatives of local community organizations, entrepreneurs, journalists, volunteers, and professionals for their continued support and cooperation. Please feel free to visit our office or email us at [email protected] if you have any suggestions or comments.
